Ideas from the Town Hall Dialogue:
What can we do:
· Resolve to Stop the Violence Project and Families against Mandatory minimums
· Be vigilant about the role that physicians play in making narcotics available
· Pre-trial working group and bail reform
· Marshall Project that covers the criminal justice system- themarshallproject.org
· Improving social systems regarding emotional, sexual, and physical abuse that can result in self-destructive behavior
· Long Island Bridge closure- plan to address does not adequately replace the detox beds that are no longer available
Inequality and Justice:
· Partner with community organizations, hear the voices of people who have the experience, and connect resources with resources
· Look at the bigger social determinants (education, environment) and engage with those to address the prison pipeline
· Expansions of medical-legal partnerships
· Volunteer and vote to officials who have an enlightened stance on community corrections
